The original Carpet One Floor & Home was opened in 1977 by Russell Perry. Perry got into the industry shortly after college and started with his first store named “Fashion Floors,” which would change several times before it officially became Carpet One Floor & Home in 1996. While the location changed once, the Carpet One Floor & Home store that is up and running today has been in the same spot  in La Grande for over twenty-five years. Perry was happy to see success in his original store and decided to open a second Carpet One store in 2003 in Enterprise.

One of Perry’s mottos during his time as the owner was, “the most valuable asset is your people,” which is why he felt so confident handing down the business in 2015. Perry decided to retire and pass on the Carpet One business to long-time employees of twenty-three years Lloyd Berry, Jared Bedard, and Brent Huntsmen. Today, their primary focus is on providing the ultimate customer experience from start to finish, no matter what the project. The new business owners are proud to have opened their third location in 2018 in Baker City, OR, where they continue to help customers find the perfect flooring for their home.
